BanglaKids 2024: 25 years of hope for Bangladeshi kids
2024 was a special year for BanglaKids - we celebrated 25 years of helping children in Bangladesh! During this time we have changed the lives of more than 8,000 children from poor families. This achievement is first and foremost your achievement. Thank you for helping them so lovingly and persistently for 25 years.
Bangladesh faced major political changes and two devastating floods in 2024. Our schools were also affected. However, despite the 'turbulence' of politics and nature, all the children we support are doing well and we continue our mission together.
-> CHILDREN, STUDENTS, FAMILIES <-
1,077 students, 85 orphans and 85 university students
In 2024, you provided education, food and medical care to a total of 1,077 children and students in the BanglaKids programme. This includes 85 orphans and 85 university students. Thank you for your continued love and support for all these children and students.
Cold, heat, floods
Bangladesh is one of the poorest and most climate-vulnerable countries in the world. Low temperatures in January, extreme heat in April, anti-government protests in July, and severe floods in late August and October have complicated teaching. Despite these difficult conditions, all of our sponsored children continue their studies.
Miss BanglaKids and programme support
Justýna Zedníková, Miss Czech Republic 2023, helped us to promote the BanglaKids programme. In April she visited Bangladesh and since then we call her Miss BanglaKids. Her involvement and personal interest in our work has helped spread our mission and attract new donors.
-> HUMANITARIAN AND SUPPORTING PROJECTS <-
Sustainable agriculture and library reconstruction
We are very pleased with last year's investment in irrigation at the JASS boarding school. Thanks to sustainable agriculture, the children can eat fresh fruit and vegetables from their own fields. This initiative not only promotes healthy eating, but also teaches the children about self-sufficiency.
We also successfully renovated the SAMS boarding school library in 2024, which now serves as a modern study and meeting place for more than 800 students.
Floods in August and October
Bangladesh was hit by widespread flooding in August, damaging homes, crops and infrastructure. In the east and south-east of the country, 18 million people were affected and more than 500,000 had to be evacuated. In October, floods hit the north of the country, including six of our schools and around 200 families supported by the BanglaKids programme.
Our quick response was to provide emergency aid in the form of relief parcels containing drinking water, food and hygiene products. The value of this aid was CZK 240,000. We thank all donors for their solidarity and support, which helped to alleviate the suffering of thousands of people.

Electronic communication
Moving to electronic communication with you, the donor, means saving time, money and being more environmentally friendly. We can help more children and spend less time on administration. For donors who do not have access to email, we will maintain the option of postal mail. Thank you for your cooperation.
Process analysis, manuals, IT applications
In 2024, we focused on process analysis in Bangladesh to streamline the flow of information about children. In April, we held a workshop for 44 colleagues, teachers and school representatives, resulting in manuals for work processes and a new scholarship system for students. We are also continuing to develop an internal IT application to help us manage the programme more effectively.
Through the years...
The BanglaKids website has a new section Through the years... . It contains yearbooks from past years to remind us of our achievements together. We hope you enjoy them too. Feel free to share them! :)
-> TEAM IN ACTION <-
Floods in the Czech Republic
The BanglaKids team was actively involved in the relief efforts in Ostrava after the floods in the Czech Republic. We manned the hotline, monitored the affected areas, removed mud and damaged equipment and provided psychological first aid. We see our involvement as a social responsibility and an opportunity to meet many inspiring people.
Army survival course
Our colleague attended an army survival course for journalists and humanitarian workers. The crisis situations were real, harsh and sometimes brutal. She brought valuable experience to our team for dealing with challenging situations.
Teambuilding
The first BanglaKids teambuilding event took place in the Jizera Mountains at the end of November. We brought joy to the seniors of Velke Hamry and our four-legged friends from the Dášenka shelter. It was a beautiful reminder that even a small act can bring great joy.
-> THANK YOU <-
Dear donors and supporters of the BanglaKids programme,
The slogan "Give Education - Give Future" is still relevant for 3.7 million children in Bangladesh and more than 250 million children worldwide. By helping one child, we don't change the world, we change their world. And that makes a difference.
Together with you, we have been changing the lives of children in Bangladesh for 25 years. Your support, love and trust are so precious to us. Thank you for continuing to walk this beautiful path with us.
We wish you a wonderful new year 2025!
