Sustainable agriculture benefits children!

JASS boarding school children eat fresh bananas and healthy vegetables from their own fields. ADRA helped the school by investing in 2023 to purchase a pump to irrigate the vegetable garden. This project has not only promoted healthy eating habits among the children, but also educated the students about sustainable agriculture and self-sufficiency.

The fields are cultivated by the students and staff of the school. Because of the warm, humid climate and fertile soil, a variety of vegetables thrive here, including pumpkins, okra, chilli peppers, spinach and more.

Fresh vegetables, along with bananas, are a convenient addition to the daily diet in the school canteen. This ensures that the children get the right nutrients for healthy growth.

A major benefit of growing their own vegetables and bananas is that they gain practical skills in sustainable agriculture. Students are involved in the whole cycle of cultivation - from soil preparation to sowing, tending and harvesting.

We believe that this project is also having a significant positive impact on the lives of the children.  And we are delighted to be able to share this success with you with a few photos in the gallery.

Thank you for bringing health, smiles and education to the children of Bangladesh!
