Teambuilding BanglaKids 2024

First BanglaKids teambuilding. 3 days in the Jizerky Mountains. Kamil, Jary, Zlatuska and Markéta. And because we are still helping, and we would have had a withdrawal otherwise, we decided to help during the teambuilding. Only in a different way. And how did it turn out? The journey goes from Prague to Velké Hamry as follows: Prague - Brumlovka (Kamil), Prague - Černý Most (Zlatuška), Brandýs (Jary), Železný Brod (Markét). We start in Hamry.

Velké Hamry, Home for the Elderly

In the cosy, well-equipped library of the old people's home in Velké Hamry, we introduce our work in Bangladesh to those who have been young for a long time. The living conditions, the problems and challenges, the help for children in the BanglaKids and Chalantika programmes and the Ganga Expedition. It's beautiful and moving, for the clients and for us.

Mrs Brůnová, thanks to whom we are here, writes:

Jizerka, Pyramida Cottage

Rain and snow in the afternoon. The planned exploration of the surroundings is cancelled. We lounge around the cabin and think about our PR and fundraising. In the evening we share photos and experiences from the holiday. Relax, no stress! :)

PS: The gourmet highlight of the day is hot cherries with ice cream and whipped cream! Recommended by 15 out of 10! :)

Příchovice, Trip to Štěpánka, Bílá Skála, and the Surroundings

In the morning everything is beautiful white, really beautiful. The temperature dropped below zero, the car froze, it took a while to get in. From Jizerka we go to Příchovice near Korenov and from there we cycle on the surrounding hills. We climb the Štěpánka lookout tower on Hvězda (959 m), Bíla Skála, descend to the Jizerka waterfall and return to Příchovice on the cycle path.

The journey is in a good mood, sometimes the sun shines. Zlatushka shares her experiences from the army survival course. Now we know where to hide from the drones during the day. On the last climb Jary finds the "Krakonoš's crutch", and the blissful look on her face when she stops for a moment testifies to the incredible emotional experience :)

The Stork, Sauna and Tractor

Little children used to say that storks carry children. He took us to the cottage "U Čápa" (At Stork) in Příchovice for dinner. It's a bit behind the church, you have to go up the hill and then down again. They have cancelled our sauna at the Pyramida, Markét is trying to arrange a replacement in the area during the trip, but there is nothing available. The service is very nice. We discuss where to go and finally find out that they have a sauna! Fresh snow cools us down, and we end the evening with an ice-cream sundae with raspberries. Yummy! :)

Outside it is snowing beautifully. But our VW Transporter does not go up the hill. It's too slippery. Unfortunately we don't have chains. We try to turn around, backwards, but to no avail. We end up on the side of the road in a snowy, slippery car park. What do we do now? Maybe they'll help us at the Stork's... "If you ask nicely... he'll help you," the waitress advises. Jary throws herself on her knees in front of him, and her eager plea does not go unheard :) Here we go. Markéta and Zlatushka are navigating, Jary is guarding Marushka, the furry cat, so we don't run her over. He's twitching a bit, scratching his forehead. But....on the fifth try, he pulls us up the hill with the tractor. Well, not the cat, but the nice guy :) Oh, what a joy! :) The gentleman doesn't want us to support him, but the community and its charitable activities. Okay, we promise. Tomorrow then.

We have a 10km night ride on a snowy road, full of bends and tricky climbs. The whole team is excited. The girls will navigate, Kamil will ride and... we'll finish. Safe and sound and happy about the day. You just can't make it up! :)

Lučany nad Nisou, Dášenka shelter

We pack in the morning. It's beautiful. Much more sun than yesterday. Slight delay due to the search for 200 CZK for the church. Marketa managed to throw it into the trash with a handkerchief :) But she'll find it!

In Příchovice we meet again the nice guy with the tractor, another cat and the priest. We keep our promise and learn a lot of new things. Another experience. We like people, but we also like animals :)

We donate a box full of goodies and several warm blankets to the Dášeňka shelter for dogs and cats. The puppies Black, Jimmy, Ronny and Kokoska have the privilege of going for a walk with us in the neighbourhood. Zlatushka and Jimmy are the most playful. We're afraid we'll collapse sprinting down the hill. But she made it! :)

Lunch at the Parkhotel Smržovka and then home.
