2012: Water treatment plant at the KMMS boarding school

A water treatment plant was constructed at the KMMS boarding school in collaboration with ADRA Bangladesh. The construction took place between October 2010 and February 2012. The plant provides 800-1000 liters of drinking water per day for students and staff.

The original water source contained harmful bacteria, iron and other minerals causing health problems to students and teachers. Today, the water is drawn from a freshwater pond. It is muddy but does not contain too much iron. In the dry season, groundwater is drawn to the pond and then to the filtration device.

After the plant had been constructed, ADRA Bangladesh organized a training for all teachers, student and stuff. The water treatment plant contributed significantly to improving the health of residents of the school.
